The Pierce Mobile Command Vehicle – An Interior Look

Pierce Manufacturing knows that the most effective use of a departmental budget is to provide the right equipment on the right apparatus for that community. This is the reason why Pierce customizes each vehicle and delivers durable exterior along with an upgradeable interior. Pierce® chassis and body combinations are built for safety, durability and longevity.

This is the last article in a three article series. During the past three months we have discussed the importance of both the interior and exterior of a Pierce mobile command vehicle. What sets Pierce apart from all others is the quality, engineering and expandability that goes into each of our vehicles.

Quality - Not only should the interior reflect quality, but so should the exterior. Pierce’s command vehicle bodies are built for durability, which is translated in the body’s 10-year structural warranty – unmatched in the industry.

Engineering - Pierce fully pre-engineers all of its vehicles, so there are no holes or cutouts made after the vehicle has been assembled. This ensures that the structural integrity of the command vehicle remains intact.

Expandability - Pierce understands that technological advances are inevitable, so we design our command vehicles with future expansion in mind. Our cable raceway system allows for easy access to replace obsolete wires or cables.

The goal of Pierce interior modification is threefold:

1. Work with each customer at pre-construction to completely understand community and departmental needs.
2. Build a vehicle that ensures cable accessibility in the future. And
3. Deliver an integrated solution and train users on it.

The storage, workspace and communications functionality inside each Pierce mobile command vehicle are designed, integrated and tested for maximum functionality.

A mobile command vehicle is a small office on wheels, so Pierce understands the need to maximize storage without compromising essential communications functionality. As part of the single-source manufacture benefit, Pierce offers custom wood cabinets built in our command interior finish center, as well as fabrication and painting of custom aluminum cabinets to match the interior. Cabinets are built for mobile applications, and once mounted to the robustly constructed body, they will withstand wear and tear.

Pierce provides amenities, including an electric lavatory free of plumbing, smell and waste. Options also include refrigerators, sink systems, water coolers, coffee makers and/or microwaves.

The available workspace in Pierce interiors increases with the addition of slide-out modules, offered in front of and behind the rear wheels. Slide-outs offer considerable space advantages as they widen the workspace by up to 30 inches. Bench seating and ergonomic chairs on a slide track or caster base are all available to interior operators.

Communications functionality is critical in any mobile command vehicle. Pierce continues to lead the way in offering integrated systems that include two-way radios, interoperability systems, audio video systems, digital and analog telephones, satellite communications, computer networks and weather systems.

Pierce understands that technology refreshes at a very rapid rate and that the ability to pull cables and replace equipment is critical. The unique interior design ensures departments have the ability to expand or upgrade their communications packages without the need to take it back to Pierce for a vehicle makeover or retrofit. Pierce will continue to work with you to find the right solution and wire it right the first time rather than sell an interior modification to you twice.

At pick up, Pierce provides customers with the opportunity to test all systems and validate proper operation. Typically, two scenarios are simulated: one incident within the range of public utilities; and an incident outside of the range of public utilities requiring generator power. Pierce conducts this redundant training to make sure customers are comfortable with the delivered solution, and additional on-sight training of personnel is also offered after delivery of your vehicle.

Pierce understands the budgetary and departmental needs of each vehicle are unique and critical. If your department is in the market for this type of product and quality is important to you, please consider a Pierce mobile command vehicle.
